Some say that angels come from God,
Borne here on wings snow white,
To touch some human being's life
While on their heavenly flight.

That may be true, for so it seems
To happen, now and then.
Some heavenly being reaches down
To touch the hearts of men.

But there's another kind of gift
That comes from God to men.
It happens when a human heart
Is filled with love again.

And this can happen any time,
On any given day,
If human hearts will hear Love's call
And let Love have its way.

But human hearts are often shy,
And fear what men would say.
They also fail to see how Love
Could use them in this way.

And so they miss the chance to be
Somebody’s Angel when
A caring word, a thoughtful deed
Would’ve brought love back again.

So listen, friend, and heed Love's call
To help someone in need.
Somebody's Angel, on this day,
Just may be you or me.

Words Along the Way

He walked by me every day, the one they call the Divine,
He blessed some, ignored others, I do not know why.
I want to meet his eyes, to see the face of God
But He did not see me,
He saw everyone else, not me. Why not me?

Then one day, one wonderful day:
He stood close by
I gazed into His face and for a moment,
His eyes met mine.

In those eyes was Infinity,
More profound than space,
More potent than the sun,
All knowing, all seeing.

He saw me, what I am, what I could be,
What I have attained, and where I have failed.
He saw my past, my present, and my future.
He saw all my faults and blemishes,
My ego and my pride.

He saw also what I can be in Him,
If only I surrender to Him,
To give up my faults and errors,
My ego and my pride.

His eyes held compassion for my sorrows.
His eyes held Love for me despite who I am.
His eyes held the Universe and all of us in it.

In His eyes I recognized my God,
My Creator, my All.
I saw also myself reflected as the image of God.

I felt my soul being drawn into His eyes,
As if in a moment I could be one with Him.
Not the small self any more,
But a new creature in whom God shines forth.

Then His eyes looked away,
And my life was changed.
For one eternal, precious moment I saw Divinity:
I saw God, and He saw me.
His eyes turned away, but He still sees me.
